A2 Biology
Unit 4 – The Natural Environment and Species Survival examined in January
Unit 5 – Energy, Exercise and Coordination examined in June
Unit 6 – Practical Biology and Investigative Skills – assessed through coursework
How is this course assessed?
2 exams and 1 coursework in both AS and A2 years
Where could this course lead?
Saving threatened species, studying microbes, growing organic plants for food, curing diseases, the 21st century offers many challenges to a biologist.
New knowledge in areas such as genetics, molecular biology, the environment and marine science have effects on human society and the environment all over the planet. The world moves quickly, in order to move with it and participate fully, people need to be
‘in the know’.
