Course components/units/outline:
Students study a range of units covering Urdu language, literature and culture. There is some flexibility in the course, allowing students to follow their interests and strengths.
How is this course assessed?
Assessment covers the four main language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students are assessed through speaking exams and cross-speaking exams. Students completing the AS level will then choose to continue with the A2.
Where could this course lead?
Students may wish to continue their language learning in further education. Many careers and further education courses value a qualification in languages at AS or A2level. Examples include: business, healthcare, travel and tourism, customer service and teaching. Students find that skills developed through studying Urdu as AS/A2 are transferable to other courses and career paths.

Many students who have studied languages at AS and A2 have gained entry to university on the strength of their language results. Many skills that regained through learning a language to AS/A2 level are transferable to other courses and career paths.
